Mama Spicy Basil Stir-Fried Noodles are Mama’s take on a classic Thai meal. If I were to pick a dish that practically all Thai people eat and that is as common as the hamburger for the US it would have to be Stir-fried Basil in all it’s variations. This dish is eaten with rice more commonly but stir-fried in noodles is available in nearly every food court in the country. I’ve experienced this dish in Thailand so many times that I’ve lost count long ago and I’ll share with you what I think of Mama’s version of this dish.
The noodle brick is pretty standard so here’s a pic of it. Enjoy!
The contents of Mama Spicy Stir-Fried Noodles included one packet of seasoning powder and a packet of paste. The noodles are meant to be eaten dry. They’re stir-fried right?
The seasoning powder had a good smell but I would have thought the smell of basil would have been more present that it was.
The paste smelled pretty good as well and perhaps this is the actual home of the basil.
Steeped the noodles and drained them so I could mix all the packets into it. I might have left a little too much water and so I think they weren’t as dry as I’d have liked them. My fault there. I really like this dish and like I said I’ve eaten so many times so I had hoped this would have been better than it was. There is a basil flavor although I think it might have been stronger for my taste and I thought it could have been spicier but I really like spicy food. I think the inclusion of a chili powder packet might have been called for Mama. They are what I’d call a replacement for the real dish in any way but as a bowl of ramen they’re OK. The noodles were nice and the ramen was overall a pretty tasty treat.
