When I saw that the noodles in Nissin Chili Noodles Tom Yum Shrimp Soup were actually made with chili peppers and then flavored with Tum Yum I couldn’t wait to dig in. Nissin has a presence in a lot of countries and Thailand is no exception. I can’t wait to try these chili noodles out!
Contents
Upon tearing open the wrapper I discovered a very special noodle brick, seasoning sachet and a sachet of paste.
Noodles
These noodles are special in the sense that they are very good. Disclosure, I love spicy stuff! Excuse the noodle puck, I had several packages of these but apparently they’ve had a rough journey. These noodles grabbed my attention as soon as I set my eyes on them. They are red and considering they are made with chilies that is as it should be. I’d like to mention that I tried these raw and they are salty on their own and a little spicy. Hmmmmmmmm……………….
Seasoning
Seasoning for this one was a sachet of powdered seasoning and a sachet for paste. The seasoning powder was fragrant, so far so good.
Paste
The paste was really thick and looked very different from other pastes.
Ruling
So I was really excited about the noodles and they are pretty good all by themselves. I had another package of them later without anything else as a snack. The chili is not extremely spicy but without any additional seasoning they make an OK snack. The thick paste yielded a very tomato like Tom Yum broth and the seasoning added a balanced taste. Very good for Nissin as other Nissin attempts have not been to my taste. The soup was pretty good overall and I really liked the noodles. The noodles don’t scream quality but then again how many tasty snacks do?
