Samyang Sriracha Ramen claims on the packaging that it is a “Spicy Flavor Stir-Fried Noodle” and that it has a “Sour Spicy Taste”. The packaging is perfect for a Sriracha Flavored ramen and Samyang nailed the essence of Sriracha. The primary thing missing here is the giant rooster to make the package complete.
Contents
The sachets inside this highly anticipated package of ramen look very much like other Samyang contents with the exception of the “sauce” or paste. I can’t recall a sachet with any type of graphic adorning a Samyang package of ramen. I think this may be sign of great things to come.
Seasoning
The veggie flakes were pretty standard and the sauce itself smelled strong and Sriracha-like. The buldak bokkeum myeon thick consistency was present in all of its glory.
Noodles
The noodle brick was the size that one would expect from a Korean instant noodle and the noodles themselves were the normal good quality I’ve come to expect from Samyang. Nothing new here, thanks for the rock-solid consistent quality Samyang.
Ruling
Samyang Sriracha Ramen definitely has a Sriracha-like flavor and Samyang delivers. I was overcome by the impression that this was their normal buldak bokkeum myeon with a sachet of ketchup added. The buldak bokkeum myeon the tomato flavor seemed to override a lot of what I’d hoped for from these noodles. I expected more Sriracha goodness and less ketchup flavor. The spiciness I can get that from many of the other Samyang noodles and this only delivers buldak bokkeum myeon ketchup noodles with a dash of Sriracha. Good attempt Samyang! Please look at improving these as I’d love a good Sriracha noodle.
