Nissin did a better job of delivering what they advertised in this package. Nissin Korean Hot Spicy Soup is actually spicy but the flavor confuses me. The packaging is red with Korean soup in a black stone bowl. The soup inside the bowl is kimchi laden and you can see chilies sliced on the top of the soup.
Maruchan Menzukuri Tonkotsu Pork
Maruchan Menzukuri Tonkotsu Pork hails from Japan and is produced by Toyo Suisan. This cup beckoned me and here we are. The packaging says it has 347 kcals and it looked like a pretty plain noodle bowl. The contents thankfully surprised me and changed my opinion. Don’t judge a book by its cover or a ramen by its wrapper, eh?
Mama Creamy Shrimp Tom Yum
Mama Creamy Shrimp Tom Yum flavored noodles come in a package that touts the traditional Thai soup serving bowl. Generally you would find these bowls with a gel can keeping the soup hot when served. This particular package says that it has been fortified with vitamin A and iron in case your deficient. Always good to keep track of the healthy stuff in ramen right? Wai Wai Tom Yum Shrimp Flavor Quick Formula
Strange packaging for this whole series of noodles. Wai Wai Tom Yum Shrimp Flavor Quick Formula noodles definitely grabbed my attention with the cartoon character on the front of the package. This one has what appears to be a pouting girl on the front. Maybe she’s mad because I took her noodles? I don’t really know but let’s get on with the review. The package also shows shrimp, limes, mushrooms, limes leaves, chilies and coriander.

Nongshim Mr. Bibim Korean Spicy Chicken Flavor
Nongshim Mr. Bibim Korean Spicy Chicken Flavor is indeed spicy but I didn’t have a clue where the Mr. Bibim name came from so I looked around and of course the source is the best place to search. Per Nongshim’s website the website,
“A Korean word “Bibim” means “Stir” in English.
Mr.BIBIM was born to get closer to non-Korean consumers who are more used to soupless noodle dishes such as spaghetti or pad thai. ” http://eng.nongshim.com/brand/mrbibim/main/index
Thanks Nongshim for the info. Now that we’ve settled the mystery let’s dig in and find out what these taste like. The packaging for is a little misleading in that it didn’t instill a fear of fire that it might have.

Nongshim Chacharoni
When I see Nongshim Chacharoni I picture the cha cha dance. The korean cha and jya are very similar and that may have contributed to the title as thee noodles are definitely jjajangmyeon. If you’ve never had them before they’re really strongly flavored black bean noodles. If you traveled around the world much you might have noticed that ethnic food is represented differently in many countries. Chinese food in the United States is vastly different from many countries and jjajangmyeon is the signature Chinese food of Korea.
Nongshim consistently makes quality noodles and this Korean powerhouse rarely disappoints even if the noodles aren’t my type of noodles. In Korean
dramas you often see the characters eating jjajangmyeon after drinking or when it’s cold. Often painted as a cheap meal they are a staple of Korean fast food. True to Nongshim’s reputation they didn’t disappoint as the package is the standard size that they generally deliver. I know I’ll be full after eating these. Continue reading “Nongshim Chacharoni”
Little Cook Spicy Cha-Chu Shoyu
Little Cook is owned by the Thai company Namchow. What does that have to do with ramen ratings you might ask? Well, when I first saw this purple elephant called Little Cook Spicy Cha-Chu Shoyu, I thought it was Japanese because of the flavoring. Surprise, surprise when I look into it to find that it is owned by a Thai company.
Samyang Kimchi Stew Ramyun
I saw this package of Samyang Kimchi Stew Ramyun peeking at me in the back of the shelf and I’m always up for a nice ramen. I love kimchi stew from the restaurant and wasn’t sure what Samyang was going to give me in a package that could compare to one of my favorites.
The package is fairly standard as far as Korean noodles go and the portion is standard as well. The package seemed to suggest that the ramen would be spicy and contain some of the ingredients that you might expect in a Korean stew. Continue reading “Samyang Kimchi Stew Ramyun”
