Mama Spicy Basil Stir-Fried Noodles are Mama’s take on a classic Thai meal. If I were to pick a dish that practically all Thai people eat and that is as common as the hamburger for the US it would have to be Stir-fried Basil in all it’s variations. This dish is eaten with rice more commonly but stir-fried in noodles is available in nearly every food court in the country. I’ve experienced this dish in Thailand so many times that I’ve lost count long ago and I’ll share with you what I think of Mama’s version of this dish.
Paldo Teumsae Ramyun
Paldo Teumsae Ramyun has been rated as one of the Top 10 Spiciest Ramens for two years by The Ramen Rater. I’ve certainly eaten a lot of ramen in my life and I disagree with Hans. I’ll not even try to compare myself with the venerable Ramen Rater but I think several of his spiciest ramens are not worthy of the top ten list. Once I’ve eaten the ones I think should go there I’ll make a list like his but for now, I’ll just let you know about this fine piece of ramen cuisine.
Ottogi Spicy Rice Cake Tteokbokki Noodles
When I saw Ottogi Spicy Rice Cake Tteokbokki Noodles it reminded me of the time I lived in Korea for a while and when I went back a couple years ago. The food I had while Iwas back was just like I remembered it from having lived there. I loved tteokbokki and have not had the best experiences finding it outside Korea, at least not good tteokbokki. So I was a little skeptical about this being very good. What a fantastic surprise to find I was wrong…..

Samyang Bajirak Kalgugsu
Samyang Bajirak Kalgugsu is a clam soup. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from our friends at Samyang in this pack. The package shows clams, mushrooms and a slightly flat noodles.
FF Tom Yum Shrimp
FF didn’t come out so well on their Tom Kha Gai noodles so I wanted to see if their FF Tom Yum Shrimp was any better. The packaging again says they’re Halal so I would think that this company specializes in Halal products. The wrapper show a very red soup with shrimp, lime, mushrooms and kafir lime leaf.
Nissin Korean Hot Spicy Soup
Nissin did a better job of delivering what they advertised in this package. Nissin Korean Hot Spicy Soup is actually spicy but the flavor confuses me. The packaging is red with Korean soup in a black stone bowl. The soup inside the bowl is kimchi laden and you can see chilies sliced on the top of the soup.
Mama Creamy Shrimp Tom Yum
Mama Creamy Shrimp Tom Yum flavored noodles come in a package that touts the traditional Thai soup serving bowl. Generally you would find these bowls with a gel can keeping the soup hot when served. This particular package says that it has been fortified with vitamin A and iron in case your deficient. Always good to keep track of the healthy stuff in ramen right? Nongshim Mr. Bibim Korean Spicy Chicken Flavor
Nongshim Mr. Bibim Korean Spicy Chicken Flavor is indeed spicy but I didn’t have a clue where the Mr. Bibim name came from so I looked around and of course the source is the best place to search. Per Nongshim’s website the website,
“A Korean word “Bibim” means “Stir” in English.
Mr.BIBIM was born to get closer to non-Korean consumers who are more used to soupless noodle dishes such as spaghetti or pad thai. ” http://eng.nongshim.com/brand/mrbibim/main/index
Thanks Nongshim for the info. Now that we’ve settled the mystery let’s dig in and find out what these taste like. The packaging for is a little misleading in that it didn’t instill a fear of fire that it might have.

Little Cook Spicy Cha-Chu Shoyu
Little Cook is owned by the Thai company Namchow. What does that have to do with ramen ratings you might ask? Well, when I first saw this purple elephant called Little Cook Spicy Cha-Chu Shoyu, I thought it was Japanese because of the flavoring. Surprise, surprise when I look into it to find that it is owned by a Thai company.
